 The Author & Quill's Journey

Quill has taken about 10 years to find its way into print. It was once optioned as a screenplay by a friend of Tom Hank's wife, but in the film industry, things fall apart quickly and unexpectedly. It then evolved into a book and went on to win the London section of a UK writing competition making it into the final 12 out of 3500 entries.

Then, unfortunately, it found its way into the hands
of a devious, deceitful agent who turned out to be a
bit of a Matchstick Man. Along the way, it and I bumped into Steven Spielberg's producer in L.A. It was a chance meeting and one in which, for legal reasons, could only be made up of a discussion about her new car.

Quill, I thought, really deserved more than this. It even found itself getting a great review from a high ranking official at the United Nations saying that it deserves to be on the shelves. Nine years ago, a friend in South Africa had a prophetic word where she named Quill as a title and that the story would fly...

This is why I have decided to pubish it independently. Perhaps, with your support, an honest publisher
might take notice and pen me a letter...

Kevin Scott Rixon is an award winning Film and Television writer and Director. He has a penchant for high adventure, having rafted some of the world’s most spectacular rapids, and calm serenity – relaxing with his Mandolin, one of C.S.Lewis' Cosmic Trilogy novels or an inspiring passage from the Bible.

From writing and directing a stage play in Malaysia and Singapore (The Carpenter's Son) to risking his life in the jungles of Costa Rica and the open Bushveld of Southern Africa, Kevin embraces what life has to offer and translates it into tales of high adventure.

So here's the exaggerated - who is he trying to fool, Bear Grylls wannabe part - We'll make it a little bigger...in the spirit of exaggeration.

He has been chased by Elephants, thrown into crocodile infested waters, stared down by an angry buffalo, dropped out of a helicopter into a 115m gorge, been swept away down raging rapids in a South American rainforest, shot at in South Africa and was forced to perform a live musical number on stage in Singapore, even though he didn’t play a musical instrument at the time. He was also an International Triple Jumper.

Oh, and he’s been to the moon, but only in his imagination and through a fondness for all things Sagan. The rest really happened...well, to a certain degree.

Born in London, he grew up in South Africa and its open game reserves. He now lives with his wife and three children in the more subtle landscape of Hertfordshire, England, home to many of his favourite authors. He is a Deacon at Forest Town Church in St.Albans where he helps his wife run a fantastic children's ministry.

So what does he do for a living to support his three children? He is currently an award winning Producer for The History Channel in London.

Kevin believes vehemently in the power and reach of the written word and is eager to promote the fact that reading should go deeper than just words on page and that profits from his works should go deeper than his own pockets.
